29th November 2022:
The game kicked off with a fiery start in the Ahmat Bin Ali stadiud; within 7 minutes, two fouls are committed by England players Rice and Henderson against the Welsh Team. Welsh goalkeeper Ward is pushed to make a save in the 10th minute as Kane makes a swift pass to Rashford who tries to chip the ball towards the net, however he is stopped. The game becomes even more lively when the next foul comes from N.Williams in the 14th minute and followed 60 seconds after was England’s second shot from Foden that went wide. The Manchester United pairing of Maguire and Rashford become a threat to Wales as Rashford makes another attempt on the goal and Maguire shows his strength in set pieces; with Wales continuously committing fouls to stay in the game, England are definitely looking like the far dominant side. N.Williams suffered a slight head injury from Rashford’s second super shot that caused the match to pause whilst he underwent medical checks for the blow and to help him regain composure. The first yellow card of the game was dished out to Welsh Player James and his team are slowly starting to fumble; their coach Rob Page was glued to the touchline shouting to the players and advising them whereas Southgate was settled and barely stood up. The first half finished with five minutes added time with a substitution for N.Williams as he was forced off of the pitch due to head injury he sustained earlier in the game, he was then replaced by Roberts. 4 more attempts were made by the Lions from Foden, Rashford, Kane and stones and even Welsh player Allen, but it still closed goalless. The question is will Wales come back and liven up for the second half or will England continue dominating and make it count?
The second half commences and fans were shocked as Gareth Bale, Wales’s “ wing wizard”,was subbed off in the first minute for B.Johnson, who started his first minute with a foul. It’s not looking good for Wales, especially as they give away a free kick just outside of the box, giving Rashford the perfect opportunity to show of his flare and skills and that he does. It is 1-0 to England in the 50th minute when Rashford’s unstoppable free kick curls beautifully into the back of the Welsh net. Another amazing goal follows rapidly after by Phil Foden, scoring from inside the box in the 52nd and assisted by England’s captain Harry Kane. Wales are struggling to survive in the tournament as they scrape for goals with two close together attempts from James and Moore, however they are unsuccessful. Ramsey is the second player to be booked after England make 3 substitutions, clearly feeling confident in what they are doing. Marcus Rashford MBE reaps his rewards for his efforts in the game and makes it 3-0 for England, effortlessly tapping the ball into the net past five Welsh players as well as the goalkeeper. Wales are finished off and after many shots, fouls and efforts, the game finishes at 90+5 minutes with an incredible 3-0. The Lions dominated throughout the match and their hard work really paid off tonight as they now head into the round of 16 where they face Senagal.
